Sui Dhaaga & Pataakha 1st Day Collections Out. This Movie Won The Race Shuchi Bhatnagar Sharat Katariya's "Sui Dhaaga" featuring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles was one of the most awaited movies of the year. Amazingly, it made headlines more for hilarious reasons after its trailer got released and people turned Anushka's dialogues and expressions into rib-tickling memes. The flick finally released on September 29 in 2500 screens and needless to say, people had great expectations from it. It has received good reviews from critics and viewers alike; however, Asia Cup final between India and Bangladesh certainly affected its opening day business. "Sui Dhaaga" had a low start in the beginning but the figures improved as the day progressed. Trade analysts are expecting that the movie will recover its loss that it had due to match in weekends and will have a respectable total after the first weekend. Talking about the first day collections of "Sui Dhaaga", the film minted Rs 8.30 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#SuiDhaaga has an encouraging Day 1… Had an ordinary start in the morning shows, but gathered momentum as the day progressed… Film lost out on a big chunk of biz due to #AsiaCup2018 finals, but should recover lost ground on Day 2… Fri ₹ 8.30 cr [2500 screens]. India biz." It depicts the story of a small town couple of India and how they chase their dreams. Varun plays Mauji while Anushka has portrayed the role of his wife Mamta. She motivates Mauji to do something on his own after she saw him getting insulted at the hands of his employed and got badly hurt. How they encountered all the difficulties and complexities and eventually attained victory is shown in a beautiful, simple and heart-touching way. Apart from "Sui Dhaaga", Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan and Sunil Grover starrer "Pataakha" also got released in 875 screens; however, it couldn't do a good business on the opening day. It's the story of two sisters, Badki (Radhika Madan) and Chhutki (Sanya Malhotra), who live in a small town of Rajasthan. They quarrel over even trivial things and hate each other a lot. Sunil has played the role of their neighbour who keeps on looking for a chance to make them fight whereas Vijay Raaz is their father who makes attempts to make peace between them. As far as Pataakha's first day collections are concerned, the movie earned just Rs 90 lakh on Friday. Here's what Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Pataakha Fri ₹ 90 lakhs [875 screens]. India biz… Had a lukewarm start at the start of Day 1 and should grow over the weekend… However, the growth has to be multi-fold since the starting point has been extremely low."
